How To Make Weed Gummies and Candy

Nothing adds to the innocence of gummy bears like a bit of THC, right?

Weed gummies are a great introduction to making edibles. You don’t have to go through the trouble of decarbing your weed and making it into a butter – all you need is to grab a cannabis tincture online and you’ll have enough THC for quite a few batches of gummies or lollipops.

What Is Cannabis Tincture?

Tinctures are liquids of herbs that have been steeped in alcohol. But we’re not here to talk about making basil gummies. Consumers can get cannabis tinctures that only contain CBD or varieties that contain THC. They are extremely potent, so consumers only need a few drops to feel the same effects as smoking or eating an edible.

Tinctures are great for people who may not want to smoke weed or prefer a more discreet method of cannabis consumption. In addition to gummies and candies, many consumers add a drop or two to smoothies and other drinks for a bit of a boost.

Consumers can also make their own tinctures, but if you are just starting to explore the world of edibles, we recommend saving yourself the hassle and getting the tincture online.  Tinctures come in different strengths and quantities, so know how much you’re putting in your gummies before you start popping them in your mouth.

Once you’ve got your tincture, it’s time to make some gummies!

Weed Gummy Recipe

Basic Weed Gummy Recipe

This is one of the simplest gummy recipes out there.

Ingredients:

  • 375 mL of a fruit juice of your choice (or fruit juices if you want to get colorful!)
  • 4 tablespoons of gelatin
  • 1 tablespoon of CBD or THC tincture

Optional:

  • A few tablespoons of raw honey, stevia, or the sweetener of your choice
  • Molds (rings, bears, other shapes…if you don’t have molds, you can still make square gummies by storing your mixture in the container of your choice.)

Directions:

  1. Pour your fruit juice into a small saucepan over low heat. Once the juice has warmed up, add the tablespoon of tincture.
  2. Add the gelatin one tablespoon at a time and whisk until the entire mixture has dissolved. If you want to add honey or stevia, now’s the time to do it.
  3. Take the saucepan off of the stove (carefully!) and pour the mixture into your molds. Put your molds in the fridge and let them harden for at least three hours.

And that’s all you need to do!

How Much THC Is In Each Gummy?

It is very important to thoroughly mix your ingredients to spread out the THC. One tablespoon of your tincture should add up to about 15 mg of THC. Use this number to gauge how many gummies you want to eat.

Just like all edibles, it will take around an hour for the THC to take effect. Don’t get impatient and eat all of your gummies at once!

Plant-Based Weed Gummy Recipe

Plant-Based Weed Gummy Recipe

Does the gelatin in the first recipe make you uneasy? We get it. Vegans (and many vegetarians) are wary of consuming gelatin products. That doesn’t mean you have to give up the fun and joy of making weed gummies!

It’s possible to buy a vegan-friendly gelatin online and follow the first recipe with this replacement. However, grass-fed gelatin isn’t always easy to find. Your best bet is to head to a health food store and grab some agar powder.

The process for making plant-based gummies is the same as the process for making gelatin gummies, but it requires a few different ingredients.

Here’s what you need to make plant-based weed gummies:

  • 250 mL of the fruit juice of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of CBD or THC tincture
  • 1 tablespoon of agar powder

If you want to add a little sweetener, you can also mix in two tablespoons of maple syrup.

How to Make Weed Lollipops

Maybe your sweet tooth is calling for a different type of sugary treat. You can use this recipe for weed lollipops – they make great party favours or a quick treat to take on the go. Just don’t confuse them for the lollipops you’re giving out for your little sister’s birthday party.

(Great news! These lollipops are vegan, too!)

Ingredients:

  • 250 mL of organic sugar (or regular sugar if you like…but organic sugar will ensure that your treats are vegan!)
  • 125 mL organic corn syrup (again, the “organic” part is optional)
  • 60 mL water
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon of CBD or THC tincture

You’ll Also Need:

  • Candy thermometer
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Lollipop molds

How to Make Weed Lollipops

Directions:

  1. Combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water together in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Mix until the sugar has dissolved into the mixture.
  2. Wait until the mixture has started to boil, then place your candy thermometer in the mold.
  3. Remove from heat when the thermometer hits 300°F (150°C)
  4. Wait until the mixture cools to 250°F (120°C,) and add lemon juice and tincture. Stir the mixture thoroughly!
  5. Pour the mixture into the molds (carefully!) and add the lollipop sticks. Place the molds in the fridge for at least an hour.

This should make about 20 lollipops. Again, your mix may not distribute all of the THC in your tincture evenly. Proceed with caution and enjoy one lollipop at a time.

Too Much Work For You?

Okay, maybe even the simple recipes may seem like too much work. We understand, and we got you covered. At Speed Greens, we sell a large selection of gummies and candy that will give you the giggles. We’ve also got chocolates and baked goods if you want to enjoy a chocolate-ly treat.

Once you’re ready to graduate to some more edible treats, you’ll need a different set of ingredients. While tincture is required for most gummy candy, you’ll need a cannabis cooking oil or cannabis butter to make edible treats like brownies, cookies, and cakes. You can also use the cooking oil to fry up a grilled cheese or any other treat!

Enjoy your treats!
